Tasting note
Concentrated and sweet, beautifully intense fruit, firmness, ripe tannins, but always beautifully broad, with lots of richness and length, great promise at a young age. Drink together with Mature cheeses, old cheese, blue cheese, but also desserts, if the taste is not too heavy, possibly with chocolate.
definition
The Douro Valley is undisputedly one of the world's most beautiful wine regions. Like a silver vein, the river Douro winds along the steep vineyard slopes, planted with grapevines since time immemorial. Because the slopes are so steep, many grapes are planted in terraces. The use of machines is virtually impossible. The vineyards are full of typical port grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cão, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Francesca, Tinta Amarela. These own grapes are eminently resistant to the sweltering heat that can prevail in the Douro valley during the summer months. In fact, these grapes are the cornerstone of port quality. In the autumn they deliver the deeply colored wines that are processed into fiery ports. The best ports come from the vineyards further inland, towards the Spanish border, and always from the vineyards overlooking the Douro River or one of its tributaries.
