Tasting note Borgo di Colloredo Biferno
Powerful full red Italian wine from Montepulciano and Aglianico grapes. Intense and balanced taste with an aroma of fine red fruit and spices. Delicious with roasted dishes or spicy cheeses.
Description
The winemakers Enrico and Pasquale di Giulio come from the small southern Italian region of Molise. They continue the high quality of their top wine Gironia with the 2006 harvest. Gironia is made from late-picked Montepulciano and Aglianico grapes that only really show their quality at optimal ripeness.
This works very well at Borgo di Colloredo because Enrico and Pasquale only plant these varieties on the very best plots. After fermentation, the wine matures for about twenty-four months in used oak barrels. Due to further aging in the bottle, the influence of the wood has merged nicely with the wine.
In addition, the tannins have become silky smooth. Very complex, full-bodied red wine that can be used for culinary purposes and comes into its own, especially in a large wine glass.
