Cahors Lamartine

Deep red wine with a powerful, youthful aroma of oak and fruit. The taste is powerful and aromatic. The finish is fragrant and long, with spicy but fused tannins.

Vin Rouge Alain Gayraud

Alain Gayraud of the Château Lamartine is a specialist in making accessible style cahors. His vineyard is located in the western part of the region with more moderate Atlantic influences. As a result, the grapes ripen more evenly than in the cooler central and eastern parts of the area.

He is also an ardent supporter of the 'micro-bullage', a revolutionary method devised by his good friend and innovative winemaker Patrick Ducourneau.

By dosing small amounts of oxygen during the ripening process, the tannin softens and the usually very strong taste becomes more flexible. The accessible style appeals and Lamartine receives many nice press reviews.
