Tasting note Château Poitevin
Full red in color and beautiful and intense in scent, with nuances of oak, slightly roasted scents and ripe red berry fruit. Round and balanced in taste, with a long aromatic aftertaste.
Description
Château Poitevin is one of the many, rather anonymous cru bourgeois vineyards in the northern part of the Médoc, the area quite far removed from the 'big names'. Saint-Estèphe, the northernmost commune of the Haut-Médoc, is almost thirty kilometers further south of the Médoc. It is therefore understandable that Château Poitevin and its colleagues are not well known in this remote corner of Bordeaux.
Although no wine of grand cru level is produced here, it does produce extremely good and pleasant Bordeaux. Such as this winery, where Guillaume and Natacha Poitevin work the vineyards according to the 'agriculture raisonnée'; a working method that includes a minimum of crop protection products. The wine is made in a classic way, working closely with the well-known oenologist Antoine Medeville. After fermentation, the wine matures for about twelve months in small oak barrels.
