Description
Christoph and Johannes Thörle make incredibly tasty pinot noir in the northern part of Rheinhessen, on limestone-rich soil. Insiders consider the winery of the two talented brothers to be the fastest growing domain in Rheinhessen. The impressive red Hölle Spätburgunder comes from the best vineyard of the same name in Saulheim with a very low yield of an average of 27 hl per ha. After fermentation in open wooden barrels lasting twenty to sometimes thirty days, the wine then matures for twenty months in large oak barrels. Nevertheless, the influence of the wood on the smell and taste is well-measured and the Pinot Noir grape achieves a beautiful expression. Thörle writes: the style is very Burgundian with refined acidity, elegant fruit notes and enormous complexity
