Chakana Chardonnay
Beautiful, aromatic dry white wine with ripe tropical fruit and mild oak nuances in the scent. The taste is soft, fragrant and round and has a full, lingering aromatic aftertaste.
Argentina Chakana Nuna
The best white wines come from areas with a temperate climate. How do you give the Chardonnay in the warm Mendoza complexity and tension? That is the challenge for Chakana, in search of 'terroir expression'.
Mendoza-born and raised winemaker Gabriel Bloise has switched to low-yield organic farming. When planting new vineyards, the wine company is looking for new locations. The choice of grapes is determined much more than before by the microclimate and the soil conditions of the plots.
It is a complex quest for an optimal interaction between grape variety and terroir. The vineyard where this wine comes from is located in Altamira, at an altitude of 1,100 meters. Here, the relatively cool conditions ensure a longer and better ripening of the grapes. The wine then matures in oak casks and ovoid cement tanks, so that the barrel aging does not predominate.
This is a wonderful combination of the smoothness of the New World and the tension and freshness of the Old World.
