Fresh and spicy
Fresh spicy-fruity aroma with light notes of hay and ripe apple. Delicious dry white wine excellent with many cold and warm fish dishes or spicy salads.
The perfect accompaniment to Fruits de mers
Picpoul de Pinet is the ideal accompaniment to 'fruits de mers' and fish dishes in the many fish restaurants around the southern French coastal towns of Agde and Sète. This grape produces a fresh, elegant white wine that is usually bottled without any form of wood maturation.
A few large cooperatives dominate the offering. But the artisanal small domaines such as Château Font-Mars are the most interesting in terms of quality.
Owner Jean-Baptiste de Clock, who incidentally descends from a Dutch family that emigrated in 1679, cultivates approximately 50 hectares of vineyard around Mèze, the centre of Picpoul production. He makes an archetype Picpoul from ripe grapes with that excellent combination of juiciness and a fine, balanced, dry taste. Recommended!
