Description

Piemonte is best known for its fine quality red wines. Conterno Fantino in Monforte dAlba specializes in Barolo and Barbera and is one of the top players. As a special feature, they also make a small amount of white from the chardonnay grape. This wine falls under the doc Langhe controlled designation of origin, where Chardonnay is permitted as a non-immigrant grape variety.

Conterno Fantino proves that the chardonnay thrives very well in this beautiful wine region and equals the quality of top Bourgognes. The Bastia chardonnay is therefore made in the manner as if it were a grand cru. Very low yields in the vineyard fermentation and maturation in small oak casks and with great maturation potential.
