Tasting note Bellegarde Jurançon Moelleux
Powerfully fragrant, refined, mildly sweet white wine from France. Very suitable as an aperitif with a piece of duck or goose liver toast, but also delicious with blue cheese.
Description
Pascal Labasse is the lord and master of the autochthonous petit and gros manseng grape varieties in the Juran̤on (near Pau). He wholesales good press references and medals for both the dry and the (semi) sweet varieties. The sweet Bellegarde (in French: moelleux) is made from both varieties. The gros manseng without wood maturation contributes to the typical fresh taste structure of Juran̤on. The petit manseng matures for several months in small oak barrels and gives the wine its sweet taste. The result after the assembly is a beautiful white Juran̤on, less sweet than classic dessert wines but with many gastronomic applications.
