Spicy wine that, drunk young, combines well with grilled or seasoned meat. After several years of maturation, also excellent with veal or leg of lamb.
Tasteful pleasure of Arjolle
Truly sublime quality Merlot from Arjolle. This full, creamy red wine with beautiful scents of ripe dark fruit convinces professional wine tasters, such as the team from Perswijn magazine. But the Equinoxe is also very popular among our customer base. This harvest is fantastic and ranks among the great Languedoc years.
We confidently give purchasing advice to lovers of Bordeaux classics such as Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, because the Equinoxe is a wonderful alternative to the more expensive Merlots from those wine regions. The secret of the success - in addition to the craftsmanship of winemaker François Teisserenc - is the incredibly low yield in the vineyards. This is only twenty-five hectoliters per hectare, while more than three times as much (eighty hl) is permitted here.
After picking and fermentation, the Equinoxe matures for ten months in small barrels of French and American oak. These provide a complex and subdued oak aroma and a ditto taste, suitable for a high-quality red wine. The characteristic of ripe Merlot grapes, round and velvety tannin, is fully present.
Arjolle's winemakers also know how to add a wonderful drinkability. This makes this wine not only very suitable as an accompaniment to many game and meat dishes, but also very tasty outside of a meal.
