Description
The wine magazine Perswijn recently tasted 71 southern French rhône blends and selected the red Pontificis as the wine with the best price-quality ratio. The combination of the Grenache Syrah and Mourvèdre grape varieties with a short oak maturation gives the Pontificis a luxurious and lush taste.
The man behind the success of this red wine is Laurent Delaunay. In addition to being a skilled winemaker, he is also responsible for the selection of grapes. These come from old vines in the Languedoc with the well-known cru La Clape and Roussillon.
The result is so good that the papal name Pontificis adorns the label with a nod to the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape! After cask maturation, the wine is bottled without filtering to retain maximum flavor.
