Tasting note Limoux Chardonnay Autan

Complex rich chardonnay with the scent of toast and ripe yellow fruit. The taste is powerful and elegant. Delicious with many fish starters, but also delicious with refined pâté.

Description

Every year, the wine growers in the southern French region of Limoux organize a gastronomic festival in which the proceeds from wine sales benefit the restoration of the church of the organizing village. A top chef who has been awarded three Michelin stars holds sway there. This event called Toques et Clochers has now become a phenomenon in culinary circles.

Within the region, the wines from the different terroirs are bottled separately. The vineyards of the Autan terroir are located on the hills around the town of Limoux in the heart of the wine region. Here the climate is the warmest and driest in the area. This makes this wine the first of the four terroirs to be ready to drink. After harvesting, fermentation and maturation take place in small oak barrels, as with many great white wines.
