Description

In 1998, the German Knauf family started the creation of a beautiful wine estate in Bolgheri, now one of the most prominent wine regions in Italy. The 20 hectares are planted with bordeaux varieties such as cabernet (sauvignon and franc), merlot and even petit verdot. The sticks are close together (9500 per hectare) which ensures a low yield in the vineyard and a high quality grape. It was precisely the absence of the characteristic Tuscan grape sangiovese that made the area famous around 1965. Winemakers wanted to break with the traditional Chianti and Brunello and create a modern international style wine. The high quality was finally rewarded in 1994 with its own DOC designation of origin. Campo Alla Sughera is 'on stand' and has famous neighbors with Ornellaia Sassiscaia and Gaja. Campo Alla Sughera makes this white wine from sauvignon vermentino and chardonnay grapes. They are harvested by hand in the early cool morning at the end of August and put into oak casks after pressing. Here are the two fermentations. However, the vermentino ferments only once and, moreover, not on oak but in steel tanks. After several months, both wines are assembled.
