Description
The quality of wines from Apulia in southern Italy is improving by leaps and bounds, but recognition as a good wine region is slower in Italy itself. This is due to the prejudice of many Northern Italians about the perceived low quality of all Southern Italian products. But fortunately wine lovers from across the border see this differently. This explains why bottled Apulian wine is especially successful in export, such as with the leading producer Cantine due Palme.
Director and chief winemaker Angelo Maci, a born 'Pugliese', is an enthusiastic advocate of indigenous grape varieties such as the old Primitivo: a reliable and classic grape from the south. Angelo Maci makes a beautiful red wine that matures for six months in small oak barrels.
