Description

L'Exclus is a special red wine in the portfolio of the talented vigneron Denis Alary. It concerns an original blend of 50% counoise grapes - the pinot noir of the south - and 50% syrah. In addition, the fruit comes from a vineyard, half of which qualifies for the prestigious cru status cairanne and the other half only for country wine. Denis finds that distinction ridiculous. According to him, the entire vineyard is of cru level with L'Exclus as living proof. Since the first harvest in 2011, this cuvée has been available in very limited quantities, so it is a real 'vin de garage'. The grapes ferment and mature just like the cru wines in large wooden cuves (demi-muids of 600 liters). This ensures that the influence of wood is nicely dosed. An absolute find!
