A delicious Gamay
Full red in color and powerful in aroma with fresh red fruit such as cherries and blackberries. The taste is full, balanced, fresh and elegant. Outstanding Beaujolais excellent with poultry, pasta dishes or beef.
A concentrated Beaujolais
Jean Paul Brun is the idiosyncratic and much discussed winemaker and owner of the family estate Terres Dorées in the south of Beaujolais. He makes authentic, unadulterated wine with great purity in smell and taste and a modest alcohol content. Brun early on went against the grain of winemakers who use additives and tricks to create lemonade-like Beaujolais that smell like candy and banana.
This cru from Beaujolais is much more concentrated than an average Fleurie because Brun has a naturally low yield in the vineyard. The yield per vine is lower but the harvested grapes have more strength and flavor. A beautiful, very pure wine with a long aftertaste.
Wine magazine Dissertation:
However, the wines are anything but 'Parkerian blockbusters' in the form of a lot of color, a lot of alcohol, a lot of wood and a lot of matter. They excel in digestibility, lightness and the purest grape expression.
