2016 St. John's Road Eden Valley PL Chardonnay

The PL Chardonnay from St. John's Road is a beautiful dry white wine with the intense fruit aromas of the New World and the refinement of a classic Burgundy. That is partly the merit of the talented winemaker Keeda Zilm and her team, who know how to get the best out of top quality grapes.

This Chardonnay comes from the grapes of vines that were once imported from Burgundy itself. They are planted in the relatively cool Eden Valley wine region. After harvesting, the bunches are pressed immediately for optimal fruit expression.

The juice ferments and then ages for eleven months in 50% new and 50% second-year 300-litre French oak barrels. This gives this refined Chardonnay a powerful taste with ripe fruit tones and light oak.
