This is of a completely different level than the slightly sweet and slightly sparkling wines that you may know from a holiday in Portugal. The new, dry wine is full of ripe fruit and has an attractive freshness, which means that the wine combines extremely well with dishes.

A small group of producers, including the acclaimed Anselmo Mendes, are driving the quality revolution this area needs. We found this beautiful wine at the small producer Cazas Novas, who cultivates about thirty hectares of their own vineyard in the sub-region of Baião. This is the warmest and driest part of the usually cool and humid vinho verde area.

The wines have a ripe and mouth-filling taste, while retaining the fresh, almost mineral character of vinho verde. Anselmo Mendes is associated with Cazas Novas as a consultant and, together with winemaker Diogo Fonseca Lopes, ensures impeccable quality with a clear Mendes signature.

This blend is made from two local grape varieties: avesso (75%) and loureiro (25%). Completely made without contact with oak, so that the beautiful and characteristic grape aromas are preserved. Highly recommended as an introduction to the vinho verde of the future.
