Sancerre is one of the best white wines in France. What few people know is that there is also a small production of rosé and red wine. The grape variety used is pinot noir, which is also used to make red burgundy.

Due to the fairly northern location of Sancerre, the red wine from this region is a light, elegant wine that can be drunk young. The vineyard Les Godons is located on a hill and therefore has an optimal exposure to the sun. It has to be because the grapes from flat vineyards ripen considerably less well in this relatively cool wine region! The producer of this wine is Philippe Raimbault. He owns the Les Godons vineyard in the commune of Sury-en-Vaux, which is considered to be among the best in Sancerre.
