Refined red wine from Italy with aromas of soft red fruit, lightly toasted oak and herbs. Elegant and soft in taste. Delicious with poultry such as guinea fowl or veal.
Description
In 1991, Agostina Pieri's son Francesco Monaci started wine growing. He bought vineyards planted with sangiovese grosso near Castelnuovo dell'Abate: a small medieval village in the southeastern part of Montalcino. Within a few harvests, Francesco was at the top of the region and achieved (the first of the DOC Rosso di Montalcino) the coveted three glasses in the Gambero Rosso.
Since then, Pieri's Rosso has been one of the most sought-after wines from Montalcino. Francesco is a fervent supporter of an accessible and flexible wine style. Combined with the perfect ripeness of its hand-picked sangiovese from low-yield vines, we dare to say that many - much more expensive - Brunello are left behind.
