The Avizoise is Agrapart's most powerful Champagne. Ripe, fruity and minerally, slightly smoky in the smell. Concentrated and rich in taste, but also elegant and fresh. Beautiful complex wine, with a nice tension and an endless aftertaste.
Pascal Agrapart and his terroirs
Pascal Agrapart is one of the undisputed stars of the Champagne region. It is not without reason that the leading wine magazine La Revue du Vin de France awards its domain the highest rating of three stars. This places Agrapart in line with Champagne greats Krug and Selosse. Unlike the large, well-known brand champagne houses, Agrapart is a so-called récoltant manipulant. This means that he has all the vineyards and the entire winemaking process under his own management. This way he can guarantee the quality of his wines from start to finish.
The Avizoise is a very exclusive Champagne and undeniably one of the top wines of the domain. The wine is made exclusively from chardonnay (blanc de blancs) from grand cru Avize. The sticks here are more than 50 years old, the soil consists of lime with a clay layer on top. The still wine ferments in oak barrels and undergoes malolactic fermentation. This provides an extra creamy character. The still wine is then bottled unfiltered and remains with the precipitated yeasts for more than five years after the second fermentation in the bottle. This gives the wine a complex, mature character, with notes of toast and brioche.
The end result is a rich and at the same time refined, pure, mineral champagne, with enormous concentration and length and an almost Burgundian character. Great wine that beautifully reflects its origin and deserves to be in the cellar for several years.
