Description
As rustic as the image of the obscure wine region of Manchuela, Juan Antonio's wine is so refined and elegant. He is therefore not just the best winemaker. He graduated as an oenologist at a young age, before gaining experience as the right-hand man of the famous Spanish winemaker Telmo Rodiguez. He also immersed himself in biodynamics and the vin nature movement.
Juan Antonio's undisputed specialty is the unruly boba grape, but he also makes wonderful wines from other local grapes, such as albilla, moravia agria and garnacha. He does this in a natural way: Juan Antonio harvests by hand, ferments with the help of grape's own yeasts, wakes with low doses of sulphite and does not filter or clarify his wines.
This amazing La Xara is a pure Garnacha. The grapes come from a ten-hectare, forty-year-old vineyard. The sticks stand on a soil of clay, limestone and granite and are not irrigated. Juan Antonio picks the grapes relatively early so that he can make an elegant garnacha style, with juicy fruit and fresh acidity.
Once harvested and fermented, the wine ages for seven months in French oak barrels. It produces a special, richly variegated red wine, with an unmistakably Mediterranean, but at the same time almost un-Spanish refined character. La Xara is delicate, mineral and terroir typified, with pure, juicy fruit and notes of pepper and laurel. A unique wine, more than worth discovering!

Drink at
Elegant, slightly spicy red wine to drink on its own, or to combine with pasta salad, veal rolls with garlic and sage or young, hard cheeses.
Tasting note
Light ruby red wine with a pure and refined scent expression of red cherry, wild strawberry, bay leaf and mint. The taste is light-footed and rich in finesse with ripe red fruit, an invigorating freshness and fine, polished tannins. The aftertaste fans out nicely with nuances of pepper and toast.
shelf life
Drink now and keep for 5 to 6 years after harvest.
