Chateau Haut Puech
Chateau Haut Puech, a pearl in the Languedoc
Owner Gerard Bru is a self-made man. Become wealthy after selling a company and put this capital into a piece of land northwest of Montpellier. Except for a few olive trees there was nothing else there. No vine in sight at any rate.
Not yet AOC, but Gerard had every confidence in this terroir with the clay soils and slate. From that moment Chateau Haut Puech has grown into a prestigious domain with only 187ha of vineyard. They make 10 different red wines, 2 white wines and 3 pink wines spread over the Coteaux du Languedoc, Pic Saint Loup and Saint Drezery areas.
Olives and truffles
In addition to wine Gerard also always left room for the olive trees he found on the land as he bought it. The old trees still take up 15ha. The olives are still harvested and turned into olive oil in limited quantities. This is only available in the store on the domain.
Another special feature on the domain at Chateau Puech Haut. Truffles can be found! Another piece of land of about 15ha is full of old oak trees. The black gold can be found on this piece of land: black truffle!
