A Rosso Superiore DOC with delicious tannins

Deep red in color and intense in scent, with nuances of new oak, black forest fruits and a fine spiciness. The taste is full, sultry and round, with a powerful development of ripe tannins and alcohol in the aftertaste.

The DOC from Tuscany, Italy

Once the winemakers were reviled, Bolgheri is now one of the most prominent wine regions in Italy. The pioneers of the region wanted to break with the traditional Chianti and Brunello and make a modern, international style wine. The high quality was finally rewarded in 1994 with a DOC status.

In 1998, the German Knauf family started the creation of their beautiful wine estate. Campo Alla Sughera is 'on a stand' and has world famous neighbors with Ornellaia, Sassicaia and Gaja. The 20 hectares are planted with Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet (Sauvignon and Franc), Merlot and even Petit Verdot. (It was precisely the absence of the distinctive Tuscan grape sangiovese that made the area famous around 1965.)
The sticks are close together: there are 9,500 per hectare. This ensures a low yield in the vineyard and therefore high quality grapes.

The Bolgheri Superiore Arnione is one of the best red wines from this modern winery and is made from hand-picked cabernet, merlot and petit verdot grapes from the oldest vines. The soaking with the skins is long, so that a lot of smell, taste and color is extracted from the grapes.
After fermentation, the wine matures for 18 months in new (80%) and second-year French oak barrels and then in the bottle for at least another 12 months. The end result is a powerful red wine with the quality and allure of a Bordeaux Grand Cru.
