From dried grapes and matured in oak | |

Description
Earlier we introduced you to the Casa Giona Pinot Grigio. The launch of this wine was so successful that we decided to introduce its red brother.
Expectations are even higher, since red wine is the specialty of this Veneto domain. Where the Amarone and Ripasso are very nice but also more expensive, this Riposato gives that seductive Veneto feeling without the corresponding price tag.
It is made from the local corvina, corvinone and rondinella, which are harvested late. The grapes are then left to dry for another thirty to forty days, to give them even more concentration. After fermentation, the wine matures for two months in tanks and a year in large oak barrels. And that produces an incredibly tasty red.
The Riposato does not have the complexity or concentration of the Ripasso or Amarone, but it does have intense ripe and dried fruit, a smooth, soft taste and a hint of toast from the wood aging. It is perfect as an aperitif wine or for lighter meals. And you don't have to leave it for the price.
Drinking at
Accessible, seductive red wine to drink solo, with drinks or daily meals. Nice with stuffed portobello mushrooms with Parmesan, carpaccio, veal ragout or mature hard cheeses.
Tasting note
Ruby red wine with an open aroma of cherry, raspberry, plum and liquorice. The taste is smooth and soft with jammy fruit, good freshness and melted tannins. Mild and juicy finish with notes of laurel, raisins and toast.
Shelf life
Ready to drink and easy to keep for up to 7 years after harvest.
