Description

François Collard is getting a better handle on the Viognier grape. This tempting Viognier Sélection Parcellaire is the successor to Mourgues du Grès' beloved Rocky Nuns Viognier and at the same time a nice upgrade.

Where François made the Rocky Nuns mainly on freshness and grape expression, this Sélection Parcellaire is a challenger of luxury Northern Rhônes such as the famous Condrieu. François harvests the grapes by hand in his own vineyards in Costières de Nîmes. A chic treatment follows in the cellar.

After the cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks (for optimal preservation of the fruity aromas) follows a malolactic fermentation, which gives the wine a deliciously creamy taste. François then matures 80% of the Viognier for six months in oak barrels. During the maturation he stirs the yeasts regularly, for a more intense, complex taste.

The result is a full, lush and creamy Viognier: a true mini-Condrieu! Enjoy this opulence on its own, or in combination with refined dishes such as Bresse chicken with morels, saffron scallops or turbot in a creamy sauce.
