Fragrant, pure sweet white wine with an attractive aroma of honey, ripe yellow fruit with pineapple nuances. Elegant taste structure, sweet, round and with mild acidity in the aftertaste.
Description
Sainte-Croix-du-Mont is considered to be the main sweet white wine appellation on the right bank of the Garonne in the Bordeaux wine region. It is not without reason that the best examples are considered as an affordable (and younger drinkable) alternative to the much more famous (and more expensive) wines from Sauternes across the river.
This Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, a cuvée from Château du Mont, is made from predominantly sémillon and a tiny bit of muscadelle from 60-year-old sticks. Once affected by noble rot (pourriture noble), the grapes are gently harvested by hand in several rounds.
The attack by noble rot ensures a concentration of flavors and sugars. This produces a sweet wine, with flavors of dried fruit, such as apricot and date, and a little honey.
You can drink this Sainte-Croix chilled well after a meal, but it can also be widely used at the table. With the foie gras, for example, or with soft cheeses or not too sweet desserts. The wine is now nicely finished, but can also be stored for several years. Recommended!
