Tasting note Nebbiolo Ginestrino
Full-bodied red wine with aromas of oak aging, light tobacco and ripe black fruit. The taste starts strongly, is complex and ends strong and long.
Description
The Nebbiolo grape is responsible for the great prestige of Piedmont. The famous Barolo owes its quality to this. One of the best producers of Barolo is Conterno Fantino (99 points at WineSpectator). They make a beautiful Nebbiolo Langhe wine for people who do not want to wait so long for a Barolo to mature or who want to pay less for a wine with strong similarities in smell and taste. It is in fact a kind of second wine made from the same grapes but in a slightly different way, creating a small Barolo. Lighter in taste, less tannic, but otherwise this Nebbiolo resembles the more famous wine in everything.
Robert Parker: Conterno-Fantino is one of a handful of properties that deliver outstanding quality throughout their entire range. Conterno-Fantino remains a leading exponent of the modern school of Barolo but today macerations are longer than normal casks have been added to French oak barriques and the wines are more polished than they have ever been.
