Beaujolais Villages Primeur

The Beaujolais owes much of its popularity to the 'scoop'. This wine can be sold from the third Thursday in November and the good producers make a delicious, fresh and fruity red wine. How it is possible that a red wine can be drunk so young has to do with the special way of fermentation.

The Beaujolais primeur is made from the gamay grape that ferments according to the 'macération carbonnique' method. The grapes are harvested as intact as possible and carefully placed in the fermentation vat. Under the influence of carbon dioxide, a fermentation occurs in the grape itself, resulting in a wine with lots of fruit scents and flexibility. A good Beaujolais scoop, like this one, can easily be kept for a year.
