Description
When you think of Sancerre, you quickly think of white wine. Not unjustified, because that is the majority of production in this famous wine region in the Loire. But the cool climate is also exceptionally suitable for refined red Sancerre, made from Pinot Noir.
Taste this fine red from David Sautereau. This winemaker, who represents the tenth generation of this family winery, has planted no less than a third of his vineyards with Pinot Noir, for the production of Sancerre Rosé and Rouge.
The vineyards are located in Cheverny, just west of Sancerre. The terroir varies from calcareous soils to iron-rich sandstone. David aims to express this varied terroir as beautifully as possible in his wines.
This pure and elegant red Sancerre proves that he certainly succeeds in this. With its pleasant, open scent of ripe red fruit and a hint of toast and its juicy, fruity taste, this is a delicious glass to go with mushroom ragout, roasted chicken or young hard cheeses.
Drink with
Smooth, intensely fruity red wine to enjoy solo, slightly chilled. Delicious with cannelloni with four cheeses and kohlrabi, mushroom ragout or young, hard cheeses.
Tasting note
Ruby red wine with an open scent of cherry, plum, rosehip and toast. Smooth and juicy with ripe red fruit, fresh acidity and mild tannins in the taste. The aftertaste is elegant and slightly spicy.
