Domaine Sébastien Dampt Petit Chablis 2021

Fresh dry white wine with an aroma of green apple, light floral nuances and some dairy. The juicy flavor structure is balanced and mild in the aftertaste.

 

 

Petit Chablis may have 'petit' in its name, but Sébastien Dampt's is nothing small. This is also reflected in the rave reviews he receives for this wine from international critics. For example, Parker's Wine Advocate writes, "certainly one of the best Petit Chablis that I tasted." That says everything about the great talent of the young Sébastien.

Officially, Petit Chablis is seen as the least appellation of Chablis. In many cases this is indeed reflected in the quality of the wines. In the hands of a good winemaker, however, Petit Chablis can become so good that it tastes better than the average Chablis. So this is one of those.

Sébastien didn't get his love for the wine business from a stranger. He started his own domain in 2007 after training in Beaune and several years of work experience in the winery of his father Daniel Dampt. It is in his footsteps that he makes his wines: traditionally, with fermentation and maturation in exclusively stainless steel tanks to achieve optimal terroir expression and a fresh, mineral character. The malolactic fermentation ensures that, despite its fresh character, the wine is also nicely rounded and slightly creamy. Delicious to drink as an aperitif or with a nice fish dish.
