Tasting notes Due Palme Montecoco

Wonderfully smooth, round Southern Italian wine. Bright red in colour, with a mild spicy aroma and nuances of candied red fruit. The taste starts smoothly and balanced and ends slightly fresh and round in the aftertaste. Combines well with lightly spiced dishes, pasta and pizza. Drink now and keep well up to four years after harvest.

Description

Salice Salentino is – with its red clay soils, warm climate and cooling sea influence – one of the best-known appellations of the southern Italian wine region of Puglia. The DOC owes its reputation to its elegant but also robust red wines from the Negroamaro grape.

The Montecoco from Cantine Due Palme also consists mainly of negroamaro, supplemented with a little malvasia nera. The grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness, and after fermentation the wine matures for half a year in French oak barriques.

Juiciness, roundness and warmth, that is what characterizes this beautiful red. Despite the warm climate and the wood aging, the wine is wonderfully smooth and drinkable. Drink it with grilled meat, for example, or with classic parmigiana di melanzane (aubergine with Parmesan).
