Description

After a long and successful winemaking career in California and the Languedoc, Laurent Delaunay was finally able to return to his roots in 2017 and buy back the trading house of his great-grandfather Edouard Delaunay to restore it to its former glory. Since then, he has dedicated himself to producing top quality Burgundies, from surprising villages to superior Grands Crus.

The Septembre Pinot Noir is the red 'entry level' and gives a nice impression of the style of the house. Laurent works closely with various highly regarded farmers in the region. He does the harvesting himself; the Pinot for this red is even mainly by hand.

More than a third of the grapes come from the famous Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The grapes also come partly from Saône-et-Loire, partly from the more southern Côte Chalonnaise and partly from Beaujolais. This gives a perfect mix of Burgundian finesse, freshness and fruitiness.

In the cellar, the grapes are sorted strictly – only the best quality is good enough. After cold skin maceration, fermentation and pressing, about half of the wine matures in oak barrels, the other half in stainless steel tanks.

It produces a beautiful, harmonious Bourgogne Pinot Noir, with a nice balance between elegant freshness, seductive red fruit and sufficient structure. It is delicious to drink on its own, or with oven-baked chicken or mushroom dishes.
