Fusional Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2020

As you may know, Sancerre is one of the very best cool climate areas for white wine. The Sauvignon grape excels here and the Frenchman Damien Yvon gained his specialist knowledge from it. He is now responsible for this beautiful Sauvignon in Marlborough, New Zealand.

He has handled it thoroughly. Just like in Sancerre, the organically certified vineyards have a high planting density. This promotes mutual competition, keeps the yield per vine low and produces grapes with a lot of flavor concentration.

Large-scale producers, who are more focused on a low cost price, opt for fewer vines per hectare with a higher yield per vine and also irrigate.

The dry farmed Fusional is made from young (and therefore not irrigated) plantings in the Wairau Valley on the South Island. The wine matures on the yeasts for three months. It tastes intensely pure, fresh and has an impressive, long aftertaste. Marlborough at its best!
