Pinot Blanc (Alsace, Germany, Austria, Italy, USA, Eastern Europe)
Both neutral (mass production) and more characterful wines, depending on the yields. The grape can give a lot of sugars but also has enough acids. The wines often have a mild, neutral character. The Baden specimens often undergo wood aging and are therefore more complex and rich in nature.
Recognizable aromas: green fruit (apple, pear); citrus (grapefruit, lemon, lime); roasted (almonds); blossom (honey). Richer versions: exotic fruit (pineapple, mango, peach) with or without wood flavors: wood (vanilla); roasted (coffee, caramel, toast).
