Tasting note Brunello di Montalcino
Beautiful and characteristic, light red colored Brunello with scents of fresh red fruit and notes of oak aging. The taste is full and fresh with ripe tannin. The finale is minutes long and aromatically strong.
Description
Castello Romitorio in the famous Brunello di Montalcino is owned by the artist Sandro Chia, who bought the dilapidated azienda in 1984 to live there. He restored the buildings and planted sangiovese vines on the surrounding slopes.
The vineyards are located in the cool, northwestern part of Brunello. This now appears to be a major advantage because, unlike the warm south, the grapes ripen slower and longer here. This is of crucial importance for the beautiful acidity that characterizes a great Brunello. The grapes are harvested by hand and ferment in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by maturation for 24 months in small oak barrels and another 12 months in the bottle.
Drink with
Beautiful wine with dishes with mushrooms and truffles, but also with grilled meat dishes. Once matured, it also looks great outside of a meal.
Shelf life
Even accessible when young after decanting. Optimal taste between 5 and 10 years after harvest.
