The Vom Blauen Schiefer is not technically a Grosses Gewächs, but it is a beautiful, impressive Riesling that exceeds its price tag.

This beautiful wine is made from grapes that just did not meet the extremely strict quality requirements for the GG Fahrlay. That's why we can safely call it a small Grosse Gewächs.

Fahrlay is characterized by blue slate. Typical of Busch's Rieslings from this hard soil type is a refined mineral character with a beautiful cool undertone.

The storage potential of this mini-GG hardly rivals that of its big brother Fahrlay. Drink this wine from about 5 to about 12 years after the harvest. In short, GM quality for an Ortswein price. Don't miss this opportunity!

Press ref: WA: 92/100 points (harvest 2017): From a pre-selection of the GG Fahrlay (which was picked the same day as the GG), so from 80- to 100-year-old vines, the 2017 Riesling Vom blauen Schiefer is a highly attractive, crunchy dry Riesling with flinty tropical fruit aromas such as pineapples on the nose. Lush, round and intense on the palate, this creamy-textured, intense and juicy little Fahrlay is a seriously good and persistent wine with complexity and a long, aromatic finish. This is an extremely good Fahrlay sailing undercover.
