Clemens Busch Mosel Marienburg Spätlese Goldkapsel Riesling 2018

Clemens Busch not only produces dazzling dry Rieslings in his Marienburg vineyard, but also wonderfully sweet ones. The Spätlese Gold Hairstyle is one of our favorites.

Clemens does not make this wine every year, but only in years with warm and dry conditions, which can cause something botrytis (or noble rot) to develop. The (unofficial) designation Goldkapsel indicates that it is a particularly beautiful quality Spätlese, which almost tends to an Auslese.

The wine has a flawless and complex aroma, with notes of ripe citrus and tropical fruit and a hint of green herbs. The taste of the wine is intense, pure and honey-like sweet, but without becoming sticky for any moment.

The counterbalance of the fresh acidity gives this wine the perfect tension and drinkability. The aftertaste lasts endlessly, and with only a modest alcohol content, this bottle is empty faster than you'd like. Highly recommended!
