The GG Freundstück is sometimes in the shadow of much more famous neighboring GG vineyards Kirchenstück and Ungeheuer. Wrongly! This GG may be small with 3.4 hectares, but the terroir is of exactly the same grand cru quality as that of its famous neighbors. Von Buhl owns 1.2 hectares in the vineyard and uses only the very best grapes for the GM. This means that there are always few bottles available of this beautiful Freundstück. It is the most Burgundian of the Von Buhl GGs, with clear yeast influence and an emphasis on terroir rather than grape expression.
