His family's beautiful winery is located in Friuli, in the north-east of Italy. The family has been growing grapes there for a long time, but it was not until the end of the eighties that the domain took the step towards making its own wines. At the same time, investments were made in quality, through the planting of other grape varieties, better vineyard management and the application of new insights in winemaking.

Nowadays the grapes - covering 45 hectares - are hand-picked thanks to the efforts of former volleyball player Massimo ('call me Max') and the cellar is full of the very latest equipment. This makes it possible to ferment the white wines at a lower temperature, so that they remain nice and fruity. Solar panels have been installed as part of sustainable business operations, which provide the entire company with energy.

Massimo wants to make wines in which the pure fruit of the grape comes first, together with fresh acidity. He is very serious about this. Yet he also likes to give a nod to the wine drinker, for example with a name like Pass the Cookies for his dessert wine. Nice is not it?
