Information

Pinot Grigio and Negroamaro from Due Palme

The red wine has been our best-selling wine for years and the white wine is also worth it.

Cantine Due Palme

Cantine Due Palme is located in the very heel of the boot of Italy, close to Brindisi in the Salento region (Puglia region). This cooperative was founded in 1989 and is now, with 1000 members and 2200 hectares of vineyards, one of the largest and most active cooperatives in southern Italy.

The nice thing about this large co-op is that it wants to keep the Salentine winegrowing traditions alive, such as the ancient custom of pruning the vines into goblet shape. Old, indigenous grape varieties such as negroamaro, aleatico, fiano, malvasia nera and susumaniello are also processed. The latter variety is very productive in its younger years, while the yield decreases drastically later on. That is, the winegrowers think here, why it is called susumaniello, which means 'loaded as a donkey'.

Cantine Due Palme is of course with both feet in the 21st century: the cellar has an area of 45,000 m2 and contains all the gadgets a modern winery needs, from an oenological center to rotating fermentation tanks and its own laboratory.

In addition to lesser known grape varieties, this co-op also uses grapes such as sangiovese, pinot nero, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah for red, and pinot bianco, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc for white. The range consists of red, white and rosé, sparkling white and rosé, and sweet red and white. All wines with a warm Southern Italian character.
