Weingut Reichsrat von Buhl
The history of Weingut Reichsrat von Buhl is long, and frankly, quite boring and complicated. Let's say it started in 1849 with Franz Peter Buhl and almost ended in 1952 with the death of the childless Frieda Piper von Buhl. The winery went to a friend, Georg Enoch von und zu Guttenberg and then became the property of his heirs. The heirs of Achim Niederberger, who died too young, are now the owners.
Of course, fancy surnames do not necessarily produce fine wines, but Reichsrat von Buhl has always distinguished itself for its quality. It is located in the Palatinate and has vineyards in the best spots in the region, around the villages of Deisdesheim and Forst. Of course, this Weingut organically cultivates its vineyards. This contributes to the purity and complexity of the wines, qualities for which this globally respected company is known.
When it comes to red wine, Reichsrat von Buhl only wants one grape in the bottle and that's spätburgunder. It's less straightforward for his white wines. Of course, the top grape Riesling is at the top of the list, but Grauburgunder, Weissburgunder, Sauvignon Blanc and even Chardonnay are also grown. A sign that Reichsrat von Buhl is completely in place in the 21st century. Since 2019, Grergor Hofer has been the responsible winemaker.
