Domaine Robert Sirugue Vosne

Domaine Robert Sirugue owns 12 hectares of vineyard in Vosne-Romanée and has plots in the best places. That certainly applies to their plots in premier cru vineyard Les Petits Monts. With grand cru Le Richebourg as a neighbor and La Romanée as a neighbor across the street, these are very impressive. The 4th generation, Marie-France and her brother Jean-Louis, currently work on this beautiful property. All grapes are picked by hand and brought to the cellar in small containers, after which they are selected for quality on a sorting table. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and maturation in small oak barrels. Sirugue is distinguished by careful extraction at the end of fermentation, which makes the wines super refined. The wine is not pumped around, but bottled using gravity without clarification or filtering. In this way pinot noir comes into its own with a refined expression.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Petit Monts 1er Cru contains around 40% whole bunches this year. It has a very attractive bouquet of red cherries, kirsch, crushed violets and a touch of crushed stone, all very well defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with a very supple texture, slightly gourmand in style, and fresh and vibrant with good depth on the complex finish. This is an excellent Les Petits Monts.

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru includes 40% whole bunch fruit. It has very fine definition on the nose: wild strawberry and raspberry, rose petal and a touch of vanilla. The whole bunch is very deftly used here. The palate is fresh and full of vigour, finely chiseled tannins with a detailed and slightly floral finish. great!
