Mineral complex Pouilly-Fumé from silex bottom
The prestige wine from the small-scale family estate Redde
Made from 100% hand-harvested Sauvignon |
100% hand-picked Sauvignon Blanc
Beautiful, elegant dry white wine with a rich aroma of floral and mineral nuances and ripe fruit. The taste is soft, round and full and develops a long, balanced aftertaste. Particularly beautiful with refined fish or poultry dishes; decant an hour in advance if necessary.
Loire like no one knows it yet
The name Redde is inextricably linked to excellent quality Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire. It was Michel Redde who, together with his wife, built up the impressive vineyard estate in Pouilly-Fumé in the 1950s. Their son Thierry is responsible for the modern, three-storey winery, where vinification takes place using gravity. Grandsons Sébastien and Romain are now also fully involved in the domain. Their common goal? Creating the most beautiful expression of grape, terroir and vintage year.
What is special about the Redde family's vineyards is that they are spread across Pouilly-sur-Loire and are therefore characterized by different soil types. This beautiful, fresh white wine comes from a very special vineyard called Les Champs des Froids. To make this old flint quarry suitable for planting vines, the enormous, rock-hard flint blocks first had to be blown up with explosives. The name Barre à mine – a mining tool – is an appropriate reference to this titanic job.
The sauvignon blanc grapes for this fresh-dry, complex Pouilly-Fumé are harvested by hand. After harvest, the wine ferments in large wooden barrels, followed by several months of maturation in contact with the yeast residues, also in wood. The result is a stunning white Loire wine with intense freshness and which, thanks to its high flavor concentration, can easily mature for ten years in the bottle. To fully appreciate the complex, mineral character, we advise you to decant the wine.
