Delicious wood-aged Verdejo
Expressive, fruity, fresh-dry white wine with notes of yellow peach, melon, quince, anise and toast. Accessible and wonderfully juicy in taste with an invigorating freshness and beautiful suppleness. The finale is freshly dry and persistent with yellow fruit. Delicious to drink as an aperitif or with tapas. Also goes perfectly with various fish dishes, such as grilled sardines with olive oil, tuna empanada or paella a la marinera.
Top quality from the Rueda
The Rueda wine region has given the Verdejo grape international fame. But beautiful aromatic white wines are also made from this special and recognizable grape variety in other Spanish wine regions.
Bodegas Piqueras in southern Almansa makes a striking example. Their verdejo grapes come from organically farmed plots at an altitude of 700 meters.
We made a selection from the best part of the harvest with winemaker Juan Pablo Bonete and allowed the wine to mature a little longer than the usual two months on the yeast cells ('sobre lías') in lightly toasted 300-liter barrels made of luxurious French oak from Allier. .
A further maturing of six months followed in large steel tanks, during which the wine also remains in contact with the lees. The result? A beautiful full wine with a ripe taste, beautifully dosed oak and an exceptionally good price-quality ratio.
