Description
The forty-year-old Tawny from Quinta da Romaneira is an absolute must for every serious Port lover. What an incredibly beautiful, complex and refined wine! He therefore does not come from the lowest house. Quinta da Romaneira is not only one of the largest houses in the Douro, but as one of the last single quintas, it also belongs to the elite of quality producers.
This is largely due to owner Christian Seely. He was previously responsible for the rebirth of the world-famous Quinta do Noval, in 2004 he also became co-owner of the historic Quinta da Romaneira. The winery was completely renovated and now has an unwavering reputation for both port and still wine of the absolute top level.
This Tawny is a blend of Ports with an average age of forty years old. The touriga nacional, tinta roriz, touriga franca and tinta barroca are harvested by hand in the steep slope vineyards. For optimal extraction of color and tannin, the grapes are pressed with the foot. The wines then mature in 640 liter wooden barrels until they are used in the final bottling.
Although you can perfectly combine this Tawny with, for example, a nut dessert or a board with matured hard cheeses, this particularly beautiful and complex Port actually deserves full attention, without any form of distraction. An unforgettable wine experience!
