definition
This is a unique white wine from the Altesse grape. This specialty from the French Alpine region of Bugey is genetically related to the chasselas, which originated on Lake Geneva. A real Alpine grape, from which Thierry and Céline Tissot make a delicious, full-bodied and original white wine that stands out in our range due to the balance with the fresh mountain acids.
The quality and grape expression is at its best after a few months of bottle aging. Although a bit strange for many white wine drinkers, we recommend decanting this Altesse, leaving it in the carafe for aeration and then pouring.
Thierry and Céline Tissot are the fifth generation of winemakers on the small family estate in the Bugey. This Alpine region is located between the Jura and Savoie and south-east of Macon. The vineyards are biodynamically processed.
Very special is their Mataret vineyard at an altitude of 350 meters with a slope of up to 45 degrees, which is locally regarded as 'grand cru'. Surrounded by forest and its isolated location, there is plenty of biodiversity that contributes to the strength of the vineyard. Thierry and Céline, both oenologists, do not make 'show' wines, but refined, subdued wines that can be used gastronomically very well.
