Description
François Teisserenc has outdone himself again! After the resounding success of the pure, fruity natural wine Brut de Cuve, we were curious if he could make the same natural wine from cask. The Brut de Barrique is the convincing answer to this question.
Quite an achievement by François, because while you have to work very cleanly and with the best quality grapes for a natural wine made from stainless steel tanks, this applies even more when the wine matures in oak barrels. Unlike tanks, wooden barrels are porous, allowing some oxygen to pass through. Without the addition of sulphite, there is therefore a greater risk of impurities in the wine.
François therefore selected his best Merlot and Cabernet grapes for the Brut de Barrique, with as much concentration as possible. In addition, he always meticulously topped up the evaporated part of the wine in the casks, in order to keep contact with oxygen to a minimum.
Once fully matured, François de Brut de Barrique (as the name suggests) bottled straight from the barrel, without fining and filtering, to preserve as much of the flavor as possible. That certainly worked! The Brut de Barrique is ripe, creamy and very concentrated. Pure nature with a luxurious touch of oak!
