Information
From burgunder specialist Franz Wehrheim
Smooth and juicy with ripe red fruit and some spiciness
Delicious with spicy sausage or grilled meat

Description

Most of the production of the Dr. family winery. Wehrheim is white wine. But since the house specializes in burgunder varieties, Spätburgunder for red cannot be missed. Franz in particular, the current winemaker and fourth generation, makes Spätburgunder his challenge.

And you can immediately taste that in this fine, ripe and accessible 'Gutswein', or the winery's entry-level wine. The grapes are planted in the winery's own vineyards, the soil consists mainly of Bundsandstein. This type of sandstone is common in the Palatinate and is particularly suitable for spätburgunder.

After manual picking, Franz destems and ferments the grapes. He then presses them and ages the wine in used barriques for ten months. This keeps the wood influence beautifully subtle.

It produces this delicious, juicy-fruity and smooth Spätburgunder. Just drink it as is, with a plank of spicy hard sausage or with grilled meat or poultry. For optimal drinking pleasure, serve the wine slightly chilled.
