Description
Stefano Caruso and his daughters Giovanna and Rosanna make fantastic, modern Sicilian wines in Marsala, on the western tip of the island. Their Naturalmente series consists of pure, energetic organic wines from local Sicilian grape varieties and was enthusiastically received not only by us, but also by the international wine press.
The catarratto grape is a specialty of the province of Trapani, where the Caruso e Minini is located. The grape was widely used for the production of Marsala, but also produces delicious dry white wines. To ensure as much freshness as possible in their wine, the Caruso family grows the catarratto in their higher vineyards.
Once harvested, the grapes are destemmed and crushed in the cellar, followed by a short skin soaking. The juice then ferments at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine ripens for some time on the precipitated yeasts.
It results in a wonderfully fresh, elegant and energetic white wine, with notes of apple, peach, anise and ginger. It is delicious to drink on its own or as an aperitif, but also goes well with, for example, bruschette, caprese salad or pasta with pesto. Wine that makes you happy!
